John Gravitt, MBA, PMP
John Gravitt is a certified PMP, a Project Management Professional who realizes that everybody who manages projects does not aspire to a career in project management. The PMP designation is not unlike the CPA. Project managers must complete a thorough documentation of project management experience before they are allowed to sit for the comprehensive PMP examination.

When not preparing for a keynote, John can often be found hiking or biking the trails of the North Georgia Mountains. On weekends, John can often be found underground in the caves of TAG, the cave-rich area of Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. Some people think that rapelling into caves and crawling through tight passages can be a little scary. But John knows it is scarier to graduate from one of Jeff Justice's Comedy Workshops at The Punchline in Altanta.

Frequently Asked Questions

John, it sounds like you have spoken all over the world. Where has been your favorite place to travel? That's funny, everybody asks me that. When I worked for a seminar company I once taught Microsoft Office in a castle in northern England. That was a lot of fun. But I suppose my favorite place of all was New Zealand. The people are great there.

Do you have any kids?
I have two, a girl and a boy. My daughter is Savannah named after the city, and my son is Clint named after my grandfather.

How does your wife feel about your traveling?
She is not crazy about it. I married her the same month I started with a seminar company. I guess I was afraid she wouldn't want to marry me if she knew how much a really traveled. Seriously though, sometime she comes along with me and that can be a lot of fun. And I do spend a lot of quality time with her and  the kids.

Why do you go into caves?
It's great physical exercise. I mountain bike and work out in a gym but nothing compares to the physical exertion of a good caving trip. But what I really like about it is, you can build these great 3-D mental maps of waterfalls, crawls, and passages that lead to great formations and other underground surprises. It's a little like 3-D hiking.

Does your wife go with you?
She will go into horizontal caves that don't involve a lot of crawling.  Horizontal means the ones you can walk or crawl into without the aid of a rope.
